Sugar cane Co-Op scaling Ag innovations efforts thru FGH Consulting to become Mexico's most effi

Success in scaling is measured by a project’s enduring impact. However, stakeholders need more experience and capacity to see programs through to their end and be willing to monitor them beyond that lifespan.

FGH International Agribusiness Consulting is developing and enabling the “Asociación de Pequeños Propietarios Cañeros del Ingenio Plan de San Luis”, at Ciudad Valles, Mexico, collecting the tools to support stakeholders with these specific capacities. These strategies look beyond the numbers that are reached within a project and include sustainability and transformation in a holistic project context. New methods and tools will help anticipate realistic and responsible scaling pathways such as real time monitoring software of all agricultural activities of the more than 400 small farmers. FGH`s team is led by Javier Viramontes and will drive the initiative to incorporate new software tools that will show real time monitoring into existing and developing projects to maximize impact. Francisco Velez will be team Coordinator. Last year Velez and Viramontes participated in meetings in Ciudad Valles, which highlighted the need for better dissemination of information on how to approach this new software that will bring better economic benefits. According to Velez, one of the key messages highlighted throughout these events was that in order for scaling to take hold and be integrated into projects, “…there needs to be a shift in real time data collecting and keep control at all levels of the agricultural practices, money and product dispersal and the most important: harvesting sugar process and real time monitoring all the way thru the mill plant, this is essential in using scaling to effectively support long-term results”
